Product information "30,49 g gold Austria 100 crowns various vintages"

In Austria, the historical crown gold coin, whose official name is Austrian Crown, was the first gold currency. The gold crowns, with denominations of 10 and 20 crowns, were introduced in Austria as a replacement for the florin during the currency reform of 1892. in 1908, the 100 gold crowns followed in Austria for the 60th anniversary of the reign of Emperor Franz Joseph I. The name for the 100 crown gold coins comes from the Latin corona, meaning crown, ring or wreath.

The original Austrian gold crowns were minted from 1892 to 1915, and the restrike of the gold coin with the face value of 100 crowns was done until 1988. The year of mintage of the 100 gold crowns from Austria was backdated to the date of the last mintage in 1915.

Reverse of the gold coin of 100 crowns from Austria

On the reverse of the Austrian 100 gold crown coin, in honor of the Emperor, the Goddess of Glory reclining on clouds was depicted in the first year of mintage, 1908. The heroic goddess rests her left arm on a shield with the coat of arms of Austria and holds a laurel wreath in her right hand. On the one hand, the glory goddess is supposed to represent the proud Austrian Empire, and on the other hand, according to a romantic legend, the depiction is supposed to embody Sisi, Empress Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary, who died exactly 10 years before the appearance of the 100 Gold Crowns.

Beginning in 1909, the 100 crown gold coin from Austria, like the other denominations of 10 and 20 crown gold coins, featured the coat of arms of the Austrian Empire. The coat of arms shows the double-headed eagle with escutcheon, above the two heads of the eagle you can see the crown of Rudolf, as the crown of the Emperor of Austria is called. The eagle holds in its talons an imperial orb and an imperial sword. At the top of the reverse of the 100 gold crowns from Austria coin is the inscription C CORONAE, the Latin name for 100 crowns. This is followed by the year of mintage or the last year of mintage of the restrike, which for the 100 crown gold coin from Austria is usually MDCCCCXV for 1915. Below the double-headed eagle is the face value of the gold coins of 100 crowns or Cor. for Corona and in between is the year of mintage in our numbers.
