The most important tips for investing in precious stones

Select diamond investment wisely

The purchase of a diamond is without doubt a special event: After all, the rare stones are fascinating, valuable and easily cost four- or five-figure amounts. Such a purchase decision needs to be well considered - because if you look carefully when buying diamonds, you can not only acquire a diamond that is fascinating because of its appearance, but also enjoy a profitable capital investment.

The 4Cs determine the price

When determining the value of a diamond, the four Cs provide important clues, because dealers base their pricing primarily on color, clarity, carat and cut. These characteristics determine the value of the stone. It is advisable to invest only in diamonds of the very best qualities, as well as marketable sizes and cuts, in order to secure long-term increases in value.

We offer only diamonds of the highest qualities, as only these are suitable for capital investment.

Select the size of the diamond exactly for the individual investment purpose

Choose the right size

Especially suitable for capital investment are flawless diamonds from about 0.3 carats, i.e. classic sizes. It should be noted that the market for half carats is more active and liquid than for larger  - for this reason it is important to select the size of the diamond exactly for the individual investment purpose. When buying several smaller stones instead of one large one, you have flexibility regarding partial sales of your diamond portfolio. Therefore, it is better to divide your diamond investment into several smaller stones than one large one.

We only offer diamonds from approx. 0.3 carats. Due to the different sizes offered, it is easy to put together a diamond portfolio adapted to the individual investment amount.

It should be flawless

Since diamonds considered for investment are a natural product, it is normal that the stone may contain inclusions. In fact, most stones have inclusions. In some cases, these are visible to the naked eye. For value assessment, cut diamonds are examined for clarity under high magnification. If no inclusion is visible under tenfold magnification, the diamond is said to be flawless (abbreviation IF for internally flawless). Because there are no inclusions to obstruct the light rays in the diamond, flawless diamonds usually delight their owners with a particularly luminous fire: the light can - assuming a perfect cut - penetrate the stone as desired and be refracted. Flawless stones are particularly suitable for capital investment, as they are scarce and therefore always in demand, and their luminosity makes them particularly fascinating.

Since clarity has a strong impact on value, we offer only flawless diamonds.

Brilliant cut especially popularBrilliant cut

The classic brilliant cut is the cut form that is most widely used. For value investments, brilliant cut diamonds are especially suited over other cut shapes, as the market for these pieces is particularly active and large. The brilliant cut is also considered particularly desirable by jewelry manufacturers because it reveals the full beauty of the stone thanks to the highest refraction of light.

The brilliant cut is considered the standard cut for diamonds. In order to be able to guarantee the largest possible circle of repeat buyers, we offer only brilliant cut diamonds.

"Fancy" colors are only something for enthusiastsFancy colors are only for lovers

Diamonds in fancy colors like pink, blue or even green are rare and expensive, but hard to sell. Therefore they are only conditionally suitable as investment diamonds. They are collector's items where comparability is usually not given. In addition, the market for these diamonds is manageable, so that not always an interested party is ready to pay a fair price for the rare diamond.

In order to address as large a circle of potential buyers as possible, we only offer colorless diamonds in the four highest color gradations: High Fine White + (D), High Fine White (E), Fine White + (F) and Fine White (G). Fancy colors are not part of our assortment

It is essential to pay attention to the quality certificate of recognized testing laboratoriesQuality certificates

There are guidelines that can be useful when buying diamonds - quality is paramount. If you want to put your money into precious stones, you should definitely pay attention to certificates from renowned gemmological institutes.  Recognized certification institutes such as DPL, GIA or HRD offer the necessary quality assurance when buying diamonds. DPL and HRD graduate the quality and characteristics of diamonds according to the internationally recognized guidelines of the International Diamond Council (IDC). Stones that have been graded by these bodies are much easier to sell on the market. On the other hand, investors should exercise caution with other certificates, as a stone may have been graduated in deviation from these internationally recognized guidelines.

Every diamond offered by us has a certificate of the mentioned institutes. The graduation information in our offer overview corresponds to the IDC standard so that a comparability is given.

Diamonds long-term sensible diversification

Investors should also consider an optimal investment strategy before buying diamonds - speculators with a short investment period will not be happy with diamonds, because the value increases tend to be long-term and no large price jumps can be expected. Also, not all money should be put into diamonds: Diamonds are like precious metals and diamonds is low. With diamonds as an admixture, you can therefore reduce the fluctuation intensity of your capital investment.

Due to the low correlation between diamonds and precious metals, we recommend mixing silver as well as diamonds.

Jewelers are often not the cheapest place to buy diamondsJeweler

The future return of the investment is also determined by the choice of the appropriate dealer - here, jewelers seem like the perfect contacts, but surprises often await when it comes to pricing: Jewelry dealers often work with high trading margins and in most cases offer conditionally attractive purchase prices. It is therefore generally advisable to buy diamonds as close to the "source" as possible.

Specialized dealers like us operate close to the diamond exchanges and can offer the diamonds at attractive conditions. They also guarantee a high level of transparency in all transactions.

Sealing does not bring additional securityValue added tax

In addition to a graduation certificate, some dealers still offer sealing of the diamonds. This means that the diamond is sealed in a plastic package. This procedure is of limited use, because without taking the stone out of the seal to check its quality characteristics and authenticity, no professional dealer can make a purchase offer on an informed basis. The additional costs for the sealing of about 100 € therefore represent an unnecessary investment at the latest when reselling - the sealing does not create additional security.

We only offer diamonds with a certificate. The certification costs are of course included in the selling price. We refrain from unnecessary additional costs for sealing.

Caution with jewelry diamonds and antique piecesJewelry diamonds and antique pieces

Special care should be taken with diamonds that are not primarily offered for investment. For example, many jewelry diamonds have only a low value due to a lower quality and are sold in relation to this at very high prices. Also antique diamonds and antique diamond jewelry are not subject to the classic pricing: here often fancier prices are paid, which can change constantly - the age or the historical significance play a role.

You will look for jewelry diamonds in vain in our assortment - we offer only diamonds of the highest quality grades.
