Canadian Maple Leaf 1 ounce gold coins have been minted by The Royal Canadian Mint since 1979. During the first three years of production, the gold co ins from Canada were minted with a fineness of 999/1000 gold. The fineness was increased to 999.9/1000 from 1982 and in 2007 the mint from Canada presented for the first time a special edition with a mintage of 30,848, which reached a fineness of 999.99/1000, the lapel of which was decorated with three maple leaves. With this fineness, special edition Maple Leaf gold coins were minted again in 2008 and 2009. A special version of the Maple Leaf Gold was the mintage of five coins with 100 kg, the face value of which is 1 million Canadian dollars and which had a material value of 2 million euros in 2008, one of these gold coins is owned by Queen Elizabeth II.
