1 ounce platinum kangaroo various vintages
On October 23, 2017, the Australian mint Perth Mint issued the popular kangaroo coin as a platinum version for the first time. With the annually consistent motif of the RED KANGAROO, the 1 ounce platinum kangaroo, just like the silver version and 1kg gold coin, features the traditional original design of the first Kangaroo minting in 1990.
Specification of the 1 Ounce Platinum Kangaroo
The 1-ounce Australian platinum Kangaroo coin weighs 31.119 grams, is approximately 2.45 mm thick and has a diameter of approximately 32.60 mm. The platinum coin Kangaroo to 1 ounce is minted with a fineness of 999.5 / 1,000, the edge of the coin is fluted. The face value of the coin to 1 ounce platinum is 100 AUD, the value in € is actually, however, many times higher, as this is calculated according to the current platinum rate.
Motif side and value side 1 ounce platinum kangaroo
Motif side:
The motif side shows the classic "Red Kangaroo" motif, which was first seen on the kangaroo gold coins in 1990. It shows a leaping red giant kangaroo - also called Red Kangaroo, surrounded by a wreath of stylized sunbeams against a frosted coin background. The name of the coin "AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO" is embossed at the top of the optically contrasting edge area of the motif side. The year, the size "1 oz" and the fineness"9995 PLATINUM" are shown at the bottom edge. On the right edge is a small "P" as the Mint Mark of the Australian Perth Mint.
Value Side:
The value side of the Kangaroo Gold Coin 1 oz Platinum Kangaroo features a portrait of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II based on a new design by artist Jody Clark introduced in 2019. The wrap-around inscription on the value side consists of the words"ELIZABETH II","AUSTRALIA" and the face value of the platinum coin"100 DOLLARS".
